Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2, 2026
MJ Squared is a community where families and caregivers share personal experiences, so we take privacy seriously. This policy explains what information MJ Squared, LLC (“we,” “us”) collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, apps and related services (the “Service”) and should be read with our Terms of Service.
The short version
- We collect what you give us to run your account and the community.
- We do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising.
- Showing yourself on the members map is off by default, and when on it shows only an approximate point near your city.
- You can see and correct your information, ask us for a copy, and delete your account at any time.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us.
- Account details: your name, email address, username, password (stored only in encrypted form), time zone and preferred language.
- Profile: your profile photo and anything else you choose to add to your profile.
- Content: posts, comments, likes, direct and channel messages, photos and files, and the spaces, events, directory listings and courses you create or join.
- Location you choose to share: if you turn on map sharing, the city and region you enter. If you add an event or directory listing, the address you provide.
- Billing: your plan and billing history. Card details are entered directly with our payment processor, Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
- Messages to us: anything you send when you contact support.
Information collected automatically.
- Usage and device data: when you were last active, sign-in times, IP address, browser and device type, and basic logs used to keep the Service secure and working.
- Cookies: we use essential cookies to keep you signed in, remember which community account you are using, and protect forms against forgery. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Sensitive information. Members sometimes share health, disability or family details in posts and messages. Please share only what you are comfortable with, and avoid sharing details that identify a child. We use this content only to provide the Service to you and the people you share it with.
2. How we use your information
- To create and run your account and the communities you join.
- To show your content to the people you share it with, and to send the notifications and emails you would expect (for example, a reply to your post, a new message, or an account security notice).
- To process payments and manage subscriptions.
- To power search, including turning plain-language searches into filters.
- To keep the Service safe: preventing abuse, investigating reports and enforcing our Terms.
- To understand how features are used so we can improve them.
- To meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, share it for targeted advertising, or use your private messages to train AI models.
3. What other members can see
- Your name, username and profile photo are visible to other members of the communities you belong to.
- Posts and comments in a space are visible to that space’s members. Direct messages are visible to the people in the conversation. Channel messages are visible to channel members.
- If you turn on map sharing, other members see an approximate point near your city, not your address.
- Approved events and directory listings are visible to members and may include the location details you entered.
- Community administrators can see member lists and moderate content in the communities they run.
5. How long we keep information
We keep your information for as long as your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your profile and account details. Content you shared with others, such as posts, comments and messages, stays visible to them but is shown as from a deleted member and is no longer linked to you. Billing records are kept as long as tax and accounting laws require. Backups are overwritten on a regular cycle.
6. Your choices and rights
- Access and correct: you can view and update your profile and account details in your settings.
- Delete: you can delete your account from your account settings, or ask us to do it.
- Map sharing: turn it on or off at any time.
- Emails: we send account, security, billing and activity emails. Security and billing emails are required; contact us if you would like fewer activity emails.
- Copy of your data: email us to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, such as to object to or restrict certain processing, or to complain to a data protection authority. Contact us at info@mjsquared.elloco.dev and we will respond within the time the law requires.
7. Security
We use encryption in transit, encrypted password storage, optional two-factor authentication and access controls to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password and tell us if you notice anything suspicious.
8. Children
MJ Squared is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it. Information about children that adults share in the community is covered by our community guidelines; please share it carefully.
9. International transfers
Our service providers may store and process information in countries other than where you live, including the United States. When we transfer information, we take steps to make sure it stays protected as described in this policy.
10. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy as the Service changes. If a change is significant, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect.
